Wayside's Urban Youth Ministry (UYM) is a Christian ministry dedicated since 1989, to empowering "at-risk" inner city youth between the ages of 6 and 17, to reach their full God-given potential through FREE programs. Partnering with neighborhood churches, schools, community organizations and groups, UYM provides activities that offer alternatives to the negative influences that youth can be confronted with when not having anything positive to do.
The Sugar Grove Library Friends work very hard to raise funds to help our library make sure the library mission statement is accomplished. We work on an extremely tight budget at the library and we have had to cut back on a great amount of materials purchased for the library's book and digital collection.
The Dominican Literacy Center, Aurora, offers immigrant women the opportunity to learn to read, write and speak English through individual tutoring by trained volunteer tutors. The Center offers weekly tutoring, conversation classes, and a wide selection of materials to take home for study and practice. So far, we have helped 2,800 women to be able to understand and speak English, and to become active participants in their families, workplaces, churches and neighborhoods.
Hope D. Wall is a public school located on the west side of Aurora serving students with severe and profound disabilities from Districts 129 and 131. Hope Wall School provides an educational program which helps students achieve their academic potential in a setting which enhances their emotional, social and developmental needs. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to function as productive members of society by encouraging as much independence as possible.
The Exchange Club of Aurora is a community service organization founded on the principles of service & patriotism & is affiliated with the National Exchange Club. The purpose of the Club is to help meet the needs of our community as well as to preserve & strengthen the principles that make our nation great. You know the work that Habitat for Humanity does with hard working deserving low-income families is both significant and impeccable. We work directly with the building trades program at East Aurora High School to learn valuable hands-on construction skills and through Aurora University where we invest in interns to provide a meaningful macro nonprofit work experience for a school year. www.foxvalleyhabitat.org
Our troop would like to use this money to do good in our community. This is our fourth year together. Each year we sponsor a family for Christmas. We have donated money to an animal shelter.We are sponsoring the Oswego Police Department's Thanksgiving dinner. We would love to take this money and do great things with it. We are a non for profit organization.
We provide glasses and hearing aids to Aurora residents,sponsor a Rebuilding Together Aurora house, support the local food pantries, support the VNA vision clinic and provide free hearing exams.
The Aurora Regional Fire Museum (ARFM) is so much more than a museum! Our non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization is an active participant in the community—partnering with many other non-profits and the City of Aurora on a variety of public programs and civic activities. Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora, 'the club that fights diabetes' was chartered in Aurora in 1927, and has been in continual service to the Fox Valley area for 88 years. Our impact locally benefits many. Each year the club donates to research, education and detection. The Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry has been putting food on the tables for its clients in need for over 50 years.Each year, the Pantry supplements the nutritional needs for over 1,000 under-served families and individuals in the Aurora area. Every week, 1,000 families receive free groceries from Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, choosing from a variety of fresh produce, frozen meat, bread, dairy and non-perishables. Helping our struggling neighbors to avoid hunger and improve their nutritional intake, Aurora Area Interfaith has provided food and hope to families since 1981 with great support from the local community.
